It seems your motherboard occasionally shuts down or freezes when idle, but it doesn’t happen often. You’re wondering whether to file a return or replacement request, especially since you don’t want to pay shipping costs and risk delays if the repair isn’t approved.

Their return policy is solid, they’ve used them before. I don’t remember if shipping costs were included, but it’s unlikely. Have you looked into it? It seems like you’re uncertain whether it’s the motherboard, even though you confirm that. If the issue persists and it’s covered under warranty… either initiate the RMA or opt for an alternative. The decision is yours, not ours.

Gigabyte usually charges customers for shipping. Their RMA process often fails on hardware issues, frequently denying requests or making false claims. They’ve consistently received poor ratings for years, except during the Asus x670 board problem. Unless your device is completely broken, it’s not worth pursuing an RMA because you’d lose a month of use and be told the board is fine. That’s how Gigabyte handles their RMA service.

I only shared my experience using the 1080Ti with a two-week turnaround time. They clearly explained it was the voltage module and how it functioned—or didn’t. They were very helpful. Now with EVGA... I can take screenshots of the 5-6 rep placement PSUs they sent me, but they didn’t ask about EVGA. I’ll focus on Gigabyte all day. One issue came up with their products, and they handled it correctly. This is just my experience. Sorry for the poor service.

It’s hard to believe it’s been over seven years since this happened. In the last four years, things have taken a dark turn. Lots of people have shared their stories, and Gigabyte has faced two major breaches that wiped out customer return data twice. Those who shipped items usually lost everything unless they fought hard for it. My own issue started with my X570 Aorus Master—it didn’t help at all.

The quality of Gigabyte boards is exceptional, making it easy for me to buy a fresh one without issues. I’ve never encountered a defective unit in its original condition.
