Does the burned connector on a used PSU indicate any issues?
I purchased a used Cougar 650w Gold Fully Modular PSU and one of the connectors for the GPU was damaged due to mismatched cables. The owner mentioned staying with it temporarily and advised using other connectors, but later issues affected my GPU, causing damage to the HDMI port, motherboard, and monitor. It might not be related to the PSU. If I buy a new GPU, should I use this PSU or get a new one? I understand some people think I shouldn't have bought it, but I already did.
1. Never purchase used PSUs!
2. Avoid getting cheap on PSUs either.
Discard them or keep them as a lightweight option.
The PSU is the sole part inside the PC that needs to be bought new and of high quality, since it powers everything and is therefore the most critical component.
Unless I have personal knowledge of the individual or a strong rating, I wouldn't purchase a used PSU, and I certainly wouldn't buy one with a damaged cable. I would simply recycle that one locally and buy a new high-quality model from the tier list tailored to your requirements.
The Corsair RM850x 2024 is around 135 dollars and is a very reliable device.
