Hi everyone,
I purchased Thermaltake 850W Toughpower GF3 GEN5 ATX 3.0 power supply. My graphics card is Rog Strix 4070Ti OC. There is a 300W 12VHPWR cable inside the power supply, but I have a question. When I looked at other 12VHPWR cable and video card connections on the internet, I saw that they were all 600W. What comes out of mine is 300W. Will this value be sufficient for my graphics card? Or should I make the connection with the cable coming from the graphics card box?
Thank you for the replies.

The 4070TI has a TDP of 300 watts, while the PCIe slot offers 75 watts. I generally favor using the native power supply cable without splitters. Most of what I mention indicates that a 300W rating is inaccurate—some sources suggest it's closer to 600 or 450 watts. Regardless, your card draws less than 375 watts either way. I own a 4070TI Strix non-OC, which are excellent cards.

I wasn't sure about the third sentence. Would you like to choose between the splitter cable from the graphics card box or the ATX 3.0 cable?

It appears the power supply providers are once again misleading. I believed the ATX 3.0 standard resolved all these concerns, but your inquiry led me to discover numerous ambiguous details instead of clear guidelines.

The cable can indeed support 600 watts, which is tied to the wire specifications and should be reliable. The real challenge lies in the power supply itself—it may opt not to deliver the full 600 watts even though the cable can handle it.

The bigger concern is how a 850-watt power supply can be connected to a cable that, in theory, could draw up to 600 watts during a surge. If I simply state this in the fine print as an ATX 3.0 device, while noting the cable limitation to 150 watts, will that suffice?

In either scenario, using a 4070 would be safe since it won’t exceed 300 watts. Most 4070 models can operate on standard 6+2 video power cables, though no device actually uses them.

native cable (12vhpwr (16 pin) is my choice and NOT the splitters included in the GPU BOX.
Why split when you can get a direct connection from start to finish?
Just a small fee of .02 cents.
I use the Corsair 12vhpwr cable on my 4070TI. I achieve under 300 watts on that card while gaming. You won't face any problems.

I own the Corsair HXI 1000 watt. It came back in 2016 and is still working well. I usually recommend using a larger power supply, which allows compatibility across various setups.
The 4070TI doesn't draw much power, so you can function with significantly less than 1000 watt.

I've just finished the setup. The system is now running smoothly without any problems. I've connected the GPU using a 300W 12VHPWR cable. Thanks to everyone for your responses.
