Does Red Dead Redemption 2 pause and keep going?
I have been having trouble with this game. Sometimes for a split second my sound cuts off and then comes back again. It can even sound weird during those moments, after that the game stops completely and starts over later. It's not because I'm skipping frames like in FPS games; it feels more like the game is paused and then resumed by someone else. This isn't happening very often but it's really annoying. Maybe my SSD is being too slow? Because when I check it, it's using 100% of its power with big spikes going up and down.
Maybe it's just the SSD? I'm not sure yet. Unless it is an old model, I have some OCZ drives that are actually slower than a hard drive when writing and reading data. That could be a problem in certain situations, but they still feel way faster than any other hard drive we own here. I'll run a speed test on the SSD using Crystal Disk Mark and just see how fast it is doing things. If it makes the game switch to a different drive even if that drive is a hard drive and acts the same way, then you know for sure what's going on.

I mean, it is an Apacer as340 and I don't think it's super old. But when I checked online speeds, they looked around 500MB/s. It might be my SSD instead of the one in the game. I'll try moving that game to a regular hard drive to see if that helps too. Also, some files from games on the HDD are actually still sitting on my C drive (the SSD). If this doesn't fix things, should I get a new SSD?
Well some files yes will still be saved on C, but its not like assets or textures, mostly it loads and saves your game on C and the Rockstar launcher. If it works fine on an HDD without problems, I'd say its the SSD. Some forums said those SSDs have all kinds of performance, some are great and some aren't. For example, if this is the only one playing that game on that SSD, Idk if I'd get a new one myself or deal with slower loading times. There are many cheaper decent options out there now too. You can try putting your games into a different SATA port on your motherboard to see if write speed goes up, but I doubt it will change much since read speeds are already pretty maxed out at Sata III which is good. Idk why writes would be so low though with an SSD that still sounds okay for other games. The write speed could be a problem with games like Red Dead, but fine with others. Good Luck!
