Does RAM OC lead to a pink screen in Windows?
Hello everyone, I've been attempting to overclock the 2x8 Vengeance LPX 2666 Micron B-die (CMK16GX4M2Z2666C16) on a B550M Pro with BIOS 4 and 4650G. So far, nothing has worked.
I updated the BIOS, tried XMP profiles with voltage settings between 1.35-1.40V, used a calculator to manually adjust timings, and tested clock speeds from 2800 to 3200. The system boots but always displays the same issue—after loading, it shows a pink screen and pops up the image at https://imgur.com/a/CvhkF0X. It boots up to 3000, but the display remains distorted, and any higher speed forces a CMOS reset. Even the lowest overclock results in a fuzzy, pink image. I'm struggling to figure out what's wrong and haven't found a similar case online.
Currently, everything seems normal on stock settings. Anyone have any ideas about what might be causing this problem?
Have you attempted using memory testers on stock and then overclocking to verify the memory's condition? The CPU supports up to 3200MHz, so increasing it should work well. However, the pink color is likely coming from the iGPU that shares the same memory. It might not tolerate the higher clock speed or timing settings.
Do you think getting a 3000/3200 rated memory will function properly?
I recalled attempting to start Windows in safe mode after performing a straightforward 2933mhz OC, Soc V, dram V with two stability options. No timing adjustments were made except for the XMP profile of the kit. It functioned properly, booting normally in safe mode without a pink screen and everything operating as expected, with the 2933mhz frequency visible in Task Manager. I'm even more puzzled now—could it be related to a driver issue or something else? lol
for those who might want to know, I reinstalled Windows and it functioned properly without the pink screen at 2933mhz.
updated Windows and added the latest recommended driver from AMD, and it continues to work.
when updating inside the AMD software to the newest driver (21.2.2), which is listed as optional, the screen displayed a pink and unusual appearance similar to the image in the first post.
the issue has been confirmed, so I plan to reinstall Windows again to ensure everything starts fresh and avoids using that version. I’ll wait for any bug fixes or when a newer release is available.
still quite strange, anyone have an idea why?
Hello! I'm facing the same issue after upgrading my CPU and motherboard. My system turns pink at startup but functions properly in Windows. If I can't find a fix online, I might consider reinstalling it.
