I've experienced issues with my 32GB Geil RGB LUCE unit repeatedly failing despite following the manufacturer's guidelines. It runs at the specified 3000MHz with correct voltages, but it keeps malfunctioning. This has happened a couple of times over the past year and a half. I'm curious why it keeps stopping—could it be a faulty RAM module? The motherboard compatibility guide lists the RAM as compatible, yet my MSI Carbon Pro x370 doesn't allow syncing RGB settings on the RAM. I'm also running a 3.8GHz overclock on a Ryzen 7 1700, which usually stays at XMP 2999MHz or manually set to 3000MHz.

when fixing issues, avoid pushing the system beyond its limits. The evidence of three RAM sets being consumed suggests the memory module isn't the problem—more likely the motherboard, power supply unit, or your own configuration. It could also point to overclocking the CPU or RAM, or actions exceeding what manufacturers claim is safe.

I'm trying to verify if the RAM is working by using overclocking as a test. My problem is that Windows shows 7.9 GB installed out of 16 GB without any overclock, but my system won't start with an overclock right now. After replacing the RAM, it works properly and runs at 3.8 GHz on the CPU and 3000 MHz on the RAM.

yeah and then it stops working. so doing the same thing over and over without changing anything is yielding no results. Don't overclock a cpu when doing diagnostics , and dont return ram 3 times thinking the ram is at fault. diagnose other parts of the machine , the board , the power supply... would be a great place to start.

Yes, the problem isn't related to overclocking. It appears only 7.6GB of 16GB was visible, and the RAM supports 3000Mhz. Voltages were configured correctly.

I'm asking about keeping the RAM speed below its rated limit to enjoy a more consistent performance later. I also lowered it from 2800 MHz to 3000 MHz initially, but it stopped working after that change.
