Hi, I have a weird problem that I can't fix right now. I noticed this last time and thought it was strange, but I checked again and it happens every single time. For some crazy reason, if I close the lid to go to Sleep or Hibernate mode, Windows comes back on after about a minute or two. Actually, it restarts instead of just staying asleep.

I have my Power Mode set to High Performance, so that shouldn't be why this is happening. I looked at all the power settings and didn't find anything obvious related to this issue.

If the laptop goes into regular Sleep mode from being idle, then I sign back in, it doesn't restart or shut down like before. I just installed a new Windows update - 2023-03 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5023778) - so I'm not sure if the problem is related to the current version of Windows 11 I have.

Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks

No, just updating Windows didn't help with this problem.

What computer did you use? Did you go to a site to check if your newest drivers worked right? Sleep issues are often caused by old or bad drivers. Have you tried updating the graphics card driver yet?

I haven't checked if there are any new GPU drivers yet, so I'll look later. But from what I know before, updating those usually doesn't fix anything. My laptop is an ASUS TUF F15 FX507ZR. I looked at the site a few weeks ago and don't think there have been any newer updates, especially for the BIOS. That part can still be checked. EDIT: It looks like all drivers and firmware are from 2022, so they already have them installed or someone else replaced them recently.

Hibernation mode: This setting saves open files and apps on the hard drive before turning off the computer. It looks exactly like a normal shutdown, so some people think they are always using "shut down" instead of "sleep." Power plan settings can also make your PC turn off automatically. If this is causing issues, try picking a different power plan to see if it helps. Your computer might be more likely to just go into sleep rather than shut down completely if the hard drive shutdown settings in advanced power settings for sleep aren't set right. A few people fixed the problem by making sure the hard drive stays on longer when trying to sleep. In the Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then choose Power Options and pick Change when computer sleep is enabled. Next, go to Click here to open advanced power settings. This opens a window where you can enter 1500 (or any big number) in the section called on battery under Turn off hard drive after option. To stop hibernation: Some computers are set to turn into hibernation after being in sleep mode for a while. When a computer is in hibernation, it acts just like a normal shutdown; you can't wake it up by moving your mouse or typing. You have to press the power button to start it again. Because of this, some people feel their PC turns off on its own during sleep time, when it actually only goes into hibernation. Since it is really just in sleep mode here, fixes for a computer that shuts down when sleeping won't work because it never actually turned off completely. It's better to make sure your PC isn't in hibernation. To check this, you can go back and look at the power settings on your Control Panel: hope this helps fix your problem good luck

Sorry for waiting so long. I'll check your post and see if I can fix this. Oh wow, I was eating while the laptop lid stayed closed all day, so the computer probably restarted a couple of times on its own. 😕 I'm in High Performance Mode, but "Turn off hard disk after" is set to Never for Plugged In. On Battery it's only set to 1 minute. If that's what you're saying, how can that cause any problems if I am plugged in? Hibernate is turned off for both battery and plug-in power. EDIT: I changed the time from 1 to 1500 minutes on Battery, but it still happened after closing the lid and coming back in. 😕 EDIT 2: Wait a minute. Actually, I think I never hit Apply. I'm going to try again. EDIT 3: Nope. It still happens.

The only thing I'm able to fix is turning off the features that happen when you shut the lid down and then putting your computer into sleep mode yourself. Once that's done, you can just close the lid without needing to use it.

Okay, that solution hasn't worked. This is one heck of a weird problem. I've tried putting it into Sleep mode from Windows > Power > Sleep. Whether I close the lid or not, after a minute or so of waking it up - it shuts down. It also randomly woke up at the log in screen too. So I tried going into Sleep mode there and after waking it up - same problem. Shut down after a minute or so. 😵 I guess I'll just have to avoid Sleep and Hibernate modes.
