Does my laptop screen keep glitching and freezing?
I bought an MSI GL62 6QD laptop back then with an i5 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 950m graphics card. Suddenly my screen started glitching and freezing so much that I needed to restart it often. I tried changing the operating system to Ubuntu just in case the drivers were causing trouble, but now I'm using Pop OS with NVIDIA drivers installed. Is there any way for me to figure this out or is it already too broken?
Welcome to the forums! Newcomer, is there anything I can do to fix this or should we give up? Maybe try installing Windows 10 with all those drivers installed manually just to see if that stops the glitching and rebooting. If it works (no more weird images), then your old system and drivers are what's causing the problems. You might also want to run a program like GPU-Z on Ubuntu and check how your graphics card reports itself.
There are several distribution options where drivers aren't set up by default. Fedora is one of them. So you could test it just to check if the same problems show up. If things happen too often, then you should try running a live desktop only to make sure it stays stable. You can also test Debian since that system is usually very reliable. Another point to note - many big distributions use Wayland for the display server. It's better to try using X11 instead just to see if that fixes the screen problem. If I remember right, most systems with Xfce desktop still rely on X11.
