Does my HP laptop stop getting power?
Hey guys, do you have a tip for this problem? My laptop battery was swapped out back about two weeks ago. But lately, when I plug in the charger, it charges for like ten seconds and then stops. I've already changed Windows, updated the BIOS, checked on different outlets, tested with two different power bricks, fixed all the drivers, and done a hard reset. Nothing worked yet! When I take the battery out and just try to use the power adapter by holding the button down, it won't turn on at all. I also tried removing both the battery and charging cord, uninstalled their drivers, unplugged them, and held the button for a minute to drain the power—still nothing. The laptop diagnostics tool even said everything looks fine with the battery. I've checked the DC jack with a multimeter, but it only charges when the lid is closed and the computer is shut down. That's weird because the battery holds its charge normally on its own. Now I'm not sure if the battery is broken since it won't turn on at all even without power. Could someone else help me out?
Right now there are two things that could go wrong: the battery or the power plug on your computer. If fixing the battery doesn't help, you might need to get a whole new PC. Replacing that plug would probably require a pro with really good soldering skills, and honestly, it's not worth it at all. Thanks for sticking around; hope this helps! 😔

I meant how much power in watts my charger has. How many watts does it give me? It should be at least 45W and the voltage is supposed to be 19.5V right? So what wattage do you have on your battery? There are two kinds of batteries I found: one with 10.8 volts or 10.95 volts, and another with 14.4 volts or 14.8 volts. Which kind did you pick? Post a link to the shop's website if you can
i've fitted the old battery again and when i plug in the charger it runs for 10 seconds and then the whole system shuts down since there is no power. So i don't think this could be battery related. Can a dc jack work intermittently if it's faulty or would it just stop working completely or could this maybe be motherboard issue?
