Does my CPU fail when under stress?
If you're under long-term stress testing and it freezes, leaving it frozen might affect your CPU. Make sure to consider the impact on performance.
In general, if you avoid adjusting CPU voltages, you won't harm the processor.
When using prime95 it will either halt certain cores or stop the entire test before a freeze occurs most of the time. In addition, you'll encounter a BSOD which forces the PC to restart.
Generally, if something fails while the system is sleeping, you'll wake up to a PC that's idle, sleeping, or hibernating (based on your settings).
