Does my computer restart unexpectedly?
PC Specifications
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: XFX QICK 319 RX 6700 XT

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 2 x 8GB 3200Mhz
Power Supply: MSI Mag A750GL Gold 80 Plus
UPS: CyberPower UT1500EG
My issue is that my PC frequently restarts even when idle or under load. The screen turns black and then restarts, sometimes displaying the ASRock logo and other times just showing a Windows audio cue without any visual output. I need to restart it to see the display again after booting up.
Additionally, there are times when no display appears during boot as well. I have an error code WHEA 18 in my Event Viewer, but I’m not sure what’s causing it. The reliability report points to the GPU, though I’ve had my CPU tested and stress tests on both components without issues. It seems the restarts are happening too unpredictably; I’m unsure what triggers this behavior.
I recently bought this PC and am frustrated because I can’t use it properly. I forgot that it has been functioning perfectly for hours without any crashes. It’s just happening randomly. Any suggestions on what might be wrong?
Hi, it's a brand new one. I also tested it with another PC and the UPS is working fine.
In accordance with @Dark Lord of Tech's advice, have you checked your PC without linking it to the UPS (or at least avoiding the battery-powered outlets on the UPS)? Does this affect performance?
I didn't include the random reboots when testing in Safe Mode. On normal mode, I encounter several errors in the event viewer. WHEA 18, Kernel 41. However, in Safe Mode there are no crashes or restarts occurring.
Have you attempted to reset the CMOS? If it starts up in Windows without errors, try launching it with standard configurations. Share your findings if you do this. If it runs smoothly, you can then adjust your PC for better performance again. Should problems reoccur, report them so others can assist with further troubleshooting and help restore optimal operation. Thanks and all the best.
