I have this FSP 650w 80+ Bronze PSU. I use it with an RX 570 which only needs a single 6-pin.
I wanted to upgrade the GPU to maybe a 1080 Ti but that needs a 6-pin and an 8-pin.
Here's a

of the specs. I have 4 extra molex connectors and an extra CPU 4-pin. Should i use a molex to 6-pin or 8-pin connector if I want to get a 1080 Ti?

If your PSU doesn’t have the right connectors for your components, you’re either using the wrong PSU or the wrong parts.
Checking online shows that adapters are often the main reason for fires.
How recent is your PSU?
I own an FSP 650w 80+ Bronze PSU.
Note, it’s actually 600W at most, not 650W.
From the mechanical drawings, you should expect a 6+2 pin connector from the PSU, labeled P4 on the harness connector:

This suggests considering GPUs that require an 8-pin connector.

That's an *old* model, designed for PCs from 20 years ago (you can tell from the group-regulation and the rail configuration). That's cheap office PSU territory if they're actually still making these. I would only use an adapter to power a 1080 Ti if I were unconcerned about the GPU dying or a computer fire.

I just tried this out myself using the exact plug setup I own. It seems there should be no trouble inserting a 6-pin plug into an 8-pin socket, since one corner has square contacts (+12V) that prevent incorrect orientation, even with a 6-pin plug. The only concern is that a PSU with a 6-pin 12V connector might not meet the same standards as one with an 8-pin 12V connector—just a possible warning, it could still function fine in your situation.

You shouldn't use a low-quality power supply for a 1080 Ti with such a bad regulator. It's a poor choice since the voltage control is terrible and it doesn't have important safety protections.

It might just work, or it could destroy the whole place. He already has a bad power supply, and you're asking him to plug a 6-pin cable into an 8-pin socket? The only correct solution is to replace this junk PSU asap.

Absolutely, I understand—just a few issues with wording in my recent update. I meant to emphasize that the connector supports backward compatibility, though it isn't recommended to use that particular PSU. 😳

It's understandable you'd think otherwise, but the 6-way cable only supports 75W while the 8-way version handles 150W. This is the official ATX PCIe standard. Certain GPUs might not work properly if they detect missing connections. For details, refer to the linked guide.
