I would only rely on a GPU and possibly one NVMe (perhaps two later).

The main distinction between middle (B760) and top-tier (Z790) motherboards today lies in overclocking potential and audio capacitors. Previously, these aspects varied greatly in construction materials, power phases, heatsinks, PCIe slots, and M.2 NVMe ports. Audio capacitors in B series boards have seen significant improvements, while most B series boards now feature at least six copper PCB layers and a minimum of ten VRM for effective heat dissipation. As a result, choosing a Z series board is justified mainly for serious overclocking, especially with high-performance CPUs like the i9-13900, requiring more than 300 watts.
