it is really beneficial for multithreaded applications if done properly.
1. RAM - 2133 or higher with good timings (CL10)
2. Memory controller (CPU NB) - 2600MHz
3. HT - 2200 +
depending on your motherboard, you might need to use BCLK to reach these values as most 970 chipsets have issues with multipliers.
after these adjustments, a small overclock of 4.0-4.4GHz would be very useful

Battlefield 1 requires my 8600k to run at over 4.8 Ghz for seamless performance on ultra high 1440p resolution.
