Hello
I want to turn on xmp to boost the RAM speed to 2933mhz. It’s currently at 2133mhz (SPD). Could doing this actually enhance my PC performance? Will it affect the CPU, motherboard, or RAM warranty? Also, why is my RAM clocked much lower than the speed I tested?

PC specs
Ryzen 3 2200g
Asrock b450m hdv r4.0
Gskill 8gb 3200mhz ripjaws 5
Corsair cx 550
Sorry, but I’m new to this.

It should be clearly evident from that variation in memory speed and, of course, possible.

No X.M.P will not cancel your warranty. The performance is based on JEDEC standards. By default, this is the setting you'll see. Just adjust the profile or enter the frequency, timings, and voltage manually to reach the claimed overclocked result.

Thank you for your response. Your question about the motherboard compatibility and its impact on performance with your Sapphire R9 270X is clear. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

The RAM is clocked lower by default because the XMP profile can be inconsistent. I experienced this myself; I had to increase the voltage slightly to achieve stability.

If the system ran too unstable with XMP enabled, and the BIOS was configured to use XMP profiles by default, you wouldn't have a way to reset it yourself.

Turning on XMP profiles is usually necessary when setting up a PC with high-speed RAM.
