My current setup has already pushed the GPU to 2100 MHz, so further CPU overclocking shouldn't impact it.

If you fail to overclock the CPU, it might impact the GPU...
How can I determine if the system is stable? I noticed that when the GPU isn't stable, the app freezes or closes. But with the CPU, how should I check its stability?
Just like a GPU, the CPU benefits from a long stress test, ideally overnight, to see if it handles high loads without errors.
Really, you should perform an overnight test? Because I ran several 5-minute benchmarks, and yes, it crashed at 2100 Mhz. But when I played games at that speed, it worked fine—probably because the GPU was only used around 60-70% instead of full 100%.
If the system crashes or shows any issues, it means it's unstable. It's best to run an overnight test; otherwise, your setup is likely not reliable.

they are distinct overclocked components.

If you don't successfully overclock the CPU, it might impact the GPU... How can I determine if it's stable? When the GPU isn't stable, it causes freezing or app crashes. What about the CPU?

how do i determine if it's stable? I know that when the GPU isn't stable, the app freezes or quits, but what about the CPU?
Just like a GPU, the CPU should undergo a long stress test, preferably overnight, to check if it errors or crashes.

What CPU and what board?
If it's a locked chip on an inexpensive board, I wouldn't really push for overclocking; you'd probably only reach around 300mhz max.
If it's a K chip on a Z board, then multiplier overclocking is likely, so other factors won't limit you—you can aim higher based on your board and CPU capabilities.

if you unsuccessfully overclock the CPU it will probably affect the gpu...
how do i find out whether it is stable or not, ik that when gpu is not stable it freeze or quit the apps I'm running but how bout cpu
Just like a GPU CPU needs a long stress test preferably overnight to run it at 100% to see if it errors or crashes.
oh really, u need to run overnight test? cuz i ran a bunch of 5 min heaven benchmarks, and yes it crashed at 2100 Mhz, but when I run games at 2100 Mhz it was perfectly fine, i guess because it only use like 60-70% GPU instead of 100% like the benchmark

What CPU and board are you using? If it's a locked chip on an inexpensive board, I wouldn't really push for overclocking—you'd probably only reach around 300mhz max. But if it's a K chip with a Z170 motherboard, then multiplier overclocking is possible, and other factors won't limit you as much. The CPU is i7 6700k and the board is an Asus Maximus viii formula Z170 motherboard.
