Does "cache card" exist?
Hello, your brother recently demonstrated his old laptop, which caught my attention because I’m familiar with PCs from the 2000s. He mentioned something about a "cache card" or "cache module" to boost performance—this is interesting. I’m curious about the exact name of that part and whether it actually exists. I’m also unsure if he meant DRAMs or SRAMs, but I think there should be a dedicated memory component for this purpose. Greetings!
It seems there could have been computers with a port for adding CPU cache. This might be a fictional idea. They may also be discussing "SSD cache" like the one referenced: https://forums. Alternatively, it could relate to RAM.
The laptop is quite old, originally built with simple components that were easily replaced as chips.
Cache on a Stick was a technology from the Pentium period. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cache_on_a_stick It's unclear if it reached laptops, but before then, desktop motherboards often had several slots for adding cache chips directly.
the nearest option I had in mind was coast modules, though they were designed for much earlier desktops rather than modern laptops
