Hey there.
I purchased a new tuf fx506 i5-10300h - gtx1650 laptop. The battery capacity is 48wh, but it only lasts about an hour and a half while browsing online. Some reviews mentioned it could last up to four hours, but my experience was shorter. Is this typical?
If it’s normal, what can I do to extend the battery life? Undervolting might help. The system is running Windows 10 20H2 build 19042.630 with Armoury crate mode set to silent and a power plan labeled power saver.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Make sure you're using version 21H1 for the operating system. For your laptop, verify your BIOS version and compare it with the support information from Asus' website. If there are pending BIOS updates, update gradually toward the latest version, keeping an eye on MEI firmware updates as you go.
Sometimes I had to reinstall the OS entirely after rebuilding the bootable USB installer using Windows Media Creation Tools. Then I manually installed all necessary drivers for the laptop, starting with Right-click installer > Run as Administrator. I also disabled Disk Defragmentation and Drive indexing, lowered screen brightness, and removed unnecessary items from startup to aid battery life.

I'll give it a shot then. If it works out, I'll let you know.

Today I had more free time to set up another Windows installation. I installed Windows 10 21h1 on my laptop without making any changes. I didn’t update the BIOS because I wanted to see if I could enable CPU overclocking and was worried newer BIOS versions might restrict that.

Sorry this isn’t directly about the main topic, but do you know how to unlock CPU? I searched online but couldn’t find anything specific for my laptop model. I also heard that undervolting the CPU could be beneficial. Is that accurate? (I’m not sure how it works, but according to basic electrical principles, voltage squared is related to power when resistance stays constant.) Since I usually don’t need full processing speed, I’m considering reducing the clock speed to improve battery life.

I don't believe laptop CPUs can be overclocked, am not certain. You might reduce voltage, though I'm unsure if it would extend battery life considering your light workloads. Balanced mode in Windows should also lower the frequency automatically.
