Hello, many videos were viewed and opinions varied, so I’m seeking advice on the best forum for more insights. My setup includes a 3440x1440 display, a 3080 GPU (potentially upgraded to 3090 soon), 240mm AIO cooling, and a 3600 CPU with no overclocking but regular boost. I mainly play games for 99% of the time, aiming for 100fps+ on a 100Hz monitor. Switching from a 1080Ti to a 3080 in certain titles didn’t significantly affect FPS, which made me realize those games are CPU-heavy and require at least one core performance boost. I considered upgrading to a 5800x3D but thought it might need more cooling (potentially reaching 90°C+). Some users on the forum suggested 5700x as a more affordable, cooler alternative with similar performance. My question is whether I should go for 5800x3D plus new cooling or stick with 5700x, since the difference in gaming experience isn’t huge?

In a strong stance, the gap between a 5700X and 5800X3D becomes irrelevant. What truly stands out is the 5800X3D, which mainly enhances smoothness across numerous games, particularly when paired with a more powerful GPU at a reduced resolution.

Get the 5800X3D, no need for a cooler upgrade. The CPU gets warm when it's running at maximum, but in games it tends to use less power. You can also try the curve optimizer offset to reduce the temperature.

I keep checking more tests and I see that the difference in resolution between them isn't huge—especially with X3D showing a higher 1% and smoother frame rates overall. That could be a selling point for me. However, from a price perspective, X3D is nearly double the cost (around 170 versus about 320 euros or similar).

If the value is worth it, it should be about 320,000 euros compared to 5,700 times the 170-180,000 range.

Focus solely on average FPS; consistency matters more.

Framerates around 200 average mean little difference, especially in games that keep FPS stable. But when it drops to about 100 and falls into the mid-40s, it becomes clear. I’m leaning toward X3D since it’s the best option. The price really pushes me away from it.

Certainly, it depends on the type of games you enjoy—X3D can significantly impact some experiences while having little effect on others.

Path of Exile, Stalker Gamma, Hunt Showdown, Battlefield, numerous seven-day survival challenges, various random survival titles, and a selection of single-player experiences such as Resident Evil Village, Cyberpunk (new after update), Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Dying Light 2, and more.

Looks like you're comfortable with 5700X in most cases. Typically, Battleroyales, Survival, MMO, and Strategy/Sim titles gain a lot from X3D.
