I’m checking for a reliable MOBO that supports DDR5 and offers strong stability for this chip. It’s good to confirm it handles high loads without issues.

the top option stands out, yet for a more cost-friendly choice look at the second session.

For power efficiency, consider the Ryzen 7 7700X or 7700. AM5 offers a more flexible upgrade option.

I encountered an issue where the system was applying undervolt despite being set to DDR4. I used a Z790 Msi Tomahawk with CPU Lite Mode 5 at stock settings, which initially drew 250W at 1.38V under load with undervolt applied. After a 10-minute cycle of R23, temperatures dropped from 100°C to 71°C.

@Ebony Falcon A 13600K is expected to exceed 24,000 in Cinebench R23. Lite mode does not lower the score. Voltage adjustments shouldn't impact performance. Certain motherboards may cause significant drops in Cinebench results when in lite mode.

25kmate, undervolting doesn’t improve performance, it only restricts power, yes lite mode on the b series board also cuts power limits but not on the Z boards as observed. For me, stock clocks at 1.15v work best, the lower voltage just comes from undervoltage, not a true power cap.

@Ebony Falcon Appreciate the confirmation on full performance. The 13600K offers strong CPU power, but the default voltage Intel sets is too high. Running at lower voltages not only boosts reliability but also reduces heat generation. Your current undervolt setting may have lowered Cinebench temps by 15°C or more. Those purchasing a B series board for these CPUs should know about Intel’s new Undervolt Protection in the latest microcode updates. Some Z series boards also support this feature. Undervolt Protection can completely stop any undervolting attempts. If you’re fortunate, you might find a BIOS option to turn off UVP. On certain systems, adjusting the BIOS to a very low voltage can halve Cinebench scores. Anyone seeking an affordable motherboard for a 13600K should be aware of this adjustment challenge.

Spent roughly 30 seconds off my device, reaching 100 immediately in the R version 23 before it caps at 71 after a 10-minute cycle.

Check your system settings to switch to light mode 9. For CPU performance testing, CineBench is a solid choice across various tasks.
