I created a PowerPoint in Microsoft Office on a school computer. When the teacher's laptop with OpenOffice was used, the animations failed and my whole presentation became unworkable. I’ll need to redo it today.

I wouldn't choose OpenOffice, but I'd pick LibreOffice since it's derived from it but has more recent updates and better support.

I prefer iWork based on the operating system you're using. It functions well online, making it a solid choice mainly for OS X users. Google Docs is another option I'm familiar with, especially for team collaboration. Many people recommend it for its ease of use.
