Hello there, I recently purchased a motherboard from CSL online. When I tried to turn it on, the first two RAM slots didn’t work, so I returned it. Three weeks later, they told me they wouldn’t accept it back because of a scratch and it wouldn’t boot. They mentioned it’s not working even when installed in my system, which was functional before. I’m trying to reduce my losses and hope I can sell it on eBay once it functions again. I’ve attached a photo for reference. Could you let me know if it’s fixable? If so, what would the repair cost be and where should I take it?

It seems like a significant stress crack rather than a minor scratch. It might have been exposed to heavy weight or pressure in that spot. Could also result from transit if the material wasn’t packed properly.

I just called to confirm they confirmed it’s a scratch. Since I haven’t got the motherboard yet, I can’t verify it myself. Does this issue have a solution?

If it's a scratch, then it's possible to bridge the broken trace back together with solder or a bodge wire. (You'd need some skill to pull this off, though.) At the very least, you can make sure nothing is shorting to ground. I wouldn't expect that to prevent the board from POSTing if it's "just" a scratch. If anything, it's going to take your HDMI port out of commission. If it's actually a fracture, I'd write the board off. The layers inside the PCB would be damaged in that case, and there's really nothing you can do to fix that.
