Casual gamer, mainly plays RPGs and MMORPGs such as FFXIV. Seeking a laptop that can manage games with higher graphics demands like Hogwarts Legacy at medium settings. Budget stays at 1000$ or less. Not for any other use besides watching videos or browsing the web. Needs at least 8 hours of battery life. Checking: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-legi...Id=6504420 Would this work or is something better available elsewhere?

This would work well, with impressive performance.
What specific capabilities are you seeking in your laptop beyond casual gaming? For me, the Lenovo model stands out for its stylish design.

From a feature perspective, there aren't many options. A webcam and disk drive aren't essential. I'm okay with a larger, heavier laptop instead of a slim one. A bigger storage capacity like 1TB would be preferable, though 512GB works fine. I don't have much knowledge about screen resolutions. The main goal is to secure the best deal for high-graphics games that can run smoothly for five years. I haven't found anything better in that price range or cheaper alternatives.

I could be unlucky, but I haven't discovered a gaming laptop with at least 8 hours of battery life for even basic tasks.

The device advertises a 12-hour battery life, but it might be overstated. Still, we can't say for sure.

The Legion Slim 7i is a high-quality gaming laptop, unlikely to be surpassed at this price point. However, its battery performance isn't great—typically around five hours for web browsing. Personally, I've found that gaming laptops generally struggle with battery life, except for a few exceptions.

Don't rely on gaming performance while the battery is low.
The power settings will utilize the built-in graphics and a reduced clock speed to save energy.
Playing games while connected produces significant heat, which a laptop cooler isn't designed to handle.
Is true necessity for portability?

You can find laptops offering 8 hours of battery life, 32GB of RAM, and a GPU capable of handling Hogwarts Legacy at medium settings. But this would likely require doubling your spending.
