Over the past weeks I've faced an unusual crash that left no traces. It wasn't caused by BSOD, but the system would freeze and need a hard reset at the power switch. The strangest part was it only occurred during streaming with OBS. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it, suspecting the Ryzen 3900X overheating might be the cause—so I reduced its speed slightly. Eventually I thought a kernel or driver conflict while streaming could be responsible. I had already updated my graphics drivers and BIOS for the 4070, especially after previous BSODs when streaming on Discord with OBS open. Now that I updated the BIOS on my ASUS M2 and it works, I’m puzzled. My technical knowledge is limited, so I’m wondering what might have gone wrong. Why would a simple BIOS update solve this? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Speculation suggests possible RAM problems, though stability has improved with BIOS updates. It might have been a minor concern when using a slower GPU on PCIe 3.0, becoming noticeable only with a more demanding card on PCIe 4.0.
