How would it feel if you were at the bottom and a great player started their first real game and won? Would you be upset? Probably not enough to matter, but you might want to work harder so someday you could match them.

It has been done to me dozens if not hundreds of times more than I have actually done it myself. Never bothered me, I've been playing competitive stuff since I was a little kid, with bigger boys stomping me; and there is always a way to get better. Getting smurfed can kill the fun, but it won't discourage me or make me loose confidence, as I understand player skill comes in tiers.
