Do you share the same concern about not needing an upgrade despite older hardware?

I think this discussion is mostly about getting a reaction. 1080p at 24 inches isn’t very sharp, just like 1440p on certain sizes. I’ve seen a 27-inch 1440p and a 27-inch 1080p side by side for a month—hard to tolerate the blur and pixel visibility. Most folks aren’t used to good displays; they haven’t experienced high-end systems. Running 4K isn’t what I was after, it just happened. I fell in love with OLED’s PQ and only TVs are affordable right now. My experience with a 3080 10GB was rough—no one told me about the performance issues. I’ve been tweaking and upgrading computers for 25-30 years; I’m performance-sensitive.
I’m trying to extend the lifespan of my hardware. With a mortgage and family to support, I can’t constantly spend on upgrades. Right now I’m using a 3700x with a 3070 ti on a 1080p display at 144hz. I might consider switching to a 1440p screen with higher refresh rates next year, and possibly a 5800x3d monitor someday.
I think a 1080ti or similar is still solid for most gaming needs. Most games haven’t changed much since that era, and there are still many low-quality textures, poor audio, and other issues. It seems developers are focusing more on flashy visual effects like RTX rather than improving core aspects such as character models, physics, or AI. Even with fixes for clipping, they often skip better updates in favor of quick money gains.
