Hi everyone! I've been playing games on my PC lately, especially tough ones like Call of Duty Warzone, GTA V, and Fortnite. I often experience annoying lag spikes. When checking Task Manager, my CPU usage stays between 80% and 100%, RAM is around 70% to 95%, the HDD hits 100%, and the GPU never reaches full capacity. I'm curious if these spikes are linked to a specific component. Could you help identify which part might be causing the issue? What part would need replacing to eliminate the lag in those games? Thanks! Max

Purchase an additional RAM module for dual-channel setup and install a SATA SSD for storage. Consider buying a new SSD for $100. The cost for memory is around $40, and you might want to upgrade your CPU later this year.

You need more memory. Your current configuration is close but with 16GB it works just fine. An SSD would help too. Aim for at least 512GB, preferably 1TB. It might be useful to check what background processes are using resources.

I'm in favor... extra RAM will make a difference. Definitely install an SSD—even a simple boot drive will speed things up and improve loading times. Your current games will load much quicker, whether it's GTA V, Fortnite, or 90GB of GTA V content. Go for the largest capacity you can afford.

Sure! I put in a lot of work to ensure my PC runs games smoothly. If you add more RAM and an SSD, do you think you won’t need to replace your existing RAM when upgrading the CPU?

Hey, I really miss the old CPU... four cores, four threads. Both the processor and RAM are hitting their limits now. xD... the SSD helps with startup speed and loading times. If you can afford it, upgrade everything. Otherwise, boost the RAM first—DR35 won’t arrive soon. You should be able to switch back to using the existing RAM in the next build.

Depends how long you plan on waiting to upgrade. If you wait until DDR5 is out, then yes, you'll have to get new RAM. Otherwise the RAM you have will be fine. His CPU is fine. He's not trying to get high refresh rates.

You're considering upgrading to a new RAM and SSD. You plan to hold onto the CPU until next year, which seems like a reasonable strategy.
