Hello everyone. My PC runs an Intel Core i5-2500 at 3.30 GHz, has 8GB RAM and a 250GB HDD. It lacks a graphics card and an SSD. I’m on a tight budget and just want to upgrade one thing. What should I consider for better gaming performance? (lol my PC is really slow).

The amount to spend and the source should be determined based on your power supply needs.

I am from Pakistan; here’s how you can check your PC's power supply status. For a good and affordable graphics card, consider brands like MSI or Gigabyte, which offer budget-friendly options.

Have you checked the case before? Capture an image of the PSU label and the one with wattage details. This is essential.

You need to hold your breath for responses, which could take a few hours or even days, based on forum activity levels.

A GPU and an SSD later should work well.

Gaming speed is often restricted by either the CPU or the graphics card. What kinds of games do you enjoy? Fast-paced action titles typically require a powerful graphics card. CPU-focused titles such as Sims, strategy games, and MMOs demand strong processors. It’s unlikely you can upgrade your processor. A graphics card without an auxiliary 6-pin power supply would be a worthwhile improvement. Tom has a GPU hierarchy chart to help you understand what capabilities different cards offer. Even a basic GTX1050 could significantly boost your gaming experience. In the US, a GTX1050 is available used for $50 to $75. Keep in mind, though, that swapping your HDD for an SSD can greatly enhance performance. You should be able to locate a Samsung 870 EVO for around $60.
