Someone might have more insight than I do. It's 2017 now, do I really need a product key for Windows 10? I remember it used to be possible without one. How about today? Thanks ahead!

You can simply keep it disabled.

A license is required. Any other information constitutes piracy. The key represents a single part of the license. Buy from a Hong Kong-based key reseller at your own risk.

It's become more sensible now. Kinguin also charged twice on a canceled card, which seems suspicious. G2A didn't do that.

Windows didn't become free overnight. It used to require a license, but for a limited time you could upgrade without one. That policy has since changed and is no longer available.

I previously used Windows 10 for a while without a license (around three months). Later, I purchased one to ensure safety. I remembered from 2016 that they didn’t require it during the free upgrade. Since those free upgrades aren’t allowed anymore, I thought using it freely was the same. It’s better to confirm than to guess.
