Do you need to swap out your laptop or hard drive?
Do you need to swap out your laptop or hard drive?
I have the only old Acer Aspire 4530 laptop that’s not working well (possible motherboard problems, broken hard disk, etc).
Because of the pandemic, my parents’ income has dropped a lot, so I can’t afford to buy a new one, even a cheap one.
The decision is: should I wait for more money (which will probably take a long time) or replace the broken hard disk with the possibly unstable motherboard?
I need a laptop for programming and designing my DIY projects.
wait until you have enough money, also today mobile hdd is SMR so you'd want to skip that one. The best option for now is Wd black for mobile (yes, that's a bit silly but that's how the industry works). Get a SSD instead, because laptop hdd these days are SMR and hard to find in the CMR section.
You can obtain a used laptop quicker than yours for around $150. Lenovo T430/430s offer solid and dependable performance, and adding a budget 250gb SSD can boost its speed to match many newer models. If this doesn’t solve the problems, consider replacing it with another system.
The process of exchanging drives between laptops doesn't guarantee success. The realization that the drive is faulty came from specific observations.
I contacted my nearby computer service shop and, after trying it, found that the hard drives weren't recognized by the system. They informed me they were faulty.
