Do you need guidance on choosing a new power supply unit?
The wife's PC uses a poor Zalman 700W power supply. I don't recall the exact model, but it's unreliable and makes a lot of noise at night, especially when she leaves the PC running. I'm considering an upgrade and have several choices in local shops. She has a GTX 1070 GPU. I'm evaluating the following options: Zalman ZM1000-ARX 80PLUS PLATINUM, ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Platinum Gaming, Asus TUF Gaming 1000W 80 PLUS Gold, Zalman TERAMAX (1200W) 80PLUS Gold, be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W, Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W 80 GOLD PLUS. I should keep in mind that silence is more important than just quality, so I'm leaning toward the Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W 80 GOLD PLUS because it has an Ultra Quiet 120mm Hydraulic Bearing Fan with Smart Zero Fan and appears more affordable compared to others.
P.S. Remember silence is priority, not just quality.
You might want to go through our forums and other sites, as well, to understand that noise is as subjective as design/art/aesthetics/beauty. Some people can hear the ticking of the motor in a fan in spite of them running at low RPM's while others are oblivious to said noise. There's also the matter of coil whine which have been observed by noise wary individuals.
I have several options in local stores and want your opinion on them.
The Asus ROG, Zalman Acrux, Be Quiet! 12M are Tier A units. The rest are Tier B.
M wife's PC has some crappy Zalman 700watts PSU.

She has GTX 1070 GPU.
Either PSU should be fine but we're going to need a little more context to your wife's PC than just the GPU. Please list the specs to your build like so:

Motherboard:

SSD/HDD:

I'm thinking to go with Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W 80 GOLD PLUS as it states on their website that it has Ultra Quiet 120mm Hydraulic Bearing Fan with Smart Zero Fan and also seems cheaper in that store compared to others.
If advertising was all we went by, then Asus is the best brand out there when in reality they are the worst brand in the industry, post-pandemic. They are even referred to as Asux by some in the industry.
Is the Corsair RM650e ATX v3.1 (2025 model) in stock? It offers very quiet performance.
among all the power supplies you mentioned in your first post, the ROG STRIX 1000w Platinum stands out as the top choice. however, it comes with a high price in most places and might be more than necessary for this setup. you could consider an 850w model instead, and if your wife is planning to expand her system later, it would be beneficial too. i’d advise against zalman psus since they charge a premium for mediocre products and have had reliability problems before.
They have 850 model too, but it's quite expensive. It costs $216, while that 850 model of Thermaltake Toughpower GT850 costs $118. It's a bit difference in price and unfortunately my pocket isn't very wide. Is Toughpower GT850 not good? I mean, is it worth to spend more on Asus ROG PSU or go with Thermaltake? I'm quite low on budget, but if it's really big difference and if Toughpower is not good PSU, then I guess I'll spend extra money, just wondering if it's worth it?
Do they have a SeaSonic model like this:

This is one of the most widely sold models.
can you locate an adata core reactor ii 850w at a reasonable cost ? or the mentioned seasonic focus gx ? the thermaltake GT850 can handle the task but it doesn’t offer strong power. it only comes with a 5-year warranty, while core reactor ii or focus gx have a 10-year warranty. this difference clearly shows the unit is at least one level behind in quality.
