My laptop is an HP Victus 16 with a GTX 1650 Edition GPU. Recently, I changed the thermal paste and now the game performance is very poor. For instance, playing DCS was smooth at around 60fps, but it's now barely hitting 15fps with frequent lag spikes. This issue isn't limited to DCS; all my other games are affected similarly. I really hope someone can assist me and get this back to normal.

I'm checking if the CPU was refreshed correctly. It looks like the heatsink wasn't reinstalled properly. I recommend verifying the temperature using Core Temp.

Yeah, if all that's been done is applying heat sink paste, then it's either too much, not enough or it's not as effective as before. Get it fixed again.

I completed a job for you, I adjusted the heat sink back but the issue persisted. Running cinemabench showed around 98°C on the CPU and benchmarking my GPU gave about 90°C, which are definitely high temperatures. I don’t currently monitor the temperatures beforehand, so I’m not certain what’s causing it.

Hey there, I spotted the issue—the store used some overly thick thermal pads, which prevented proper contact between the heatsink and the CPU or GPU. Switching to thinner ones solved the problem completely.

Notice, you didn't have to hire someone when it's obvious you could handle it better.

Yeah, it seems like I really understand how to do it, but I was too caught up so I let the shop handle it instead. However, I plan to tackle it myself from now on.
