Do you need a Windows to Go page file?
I followed the steps in this article: Every time the computer boots it complains it made a temporary page file, and that page file seems to be 0. Computer performance is bad (like it has no page file). Games won't run, complain out of memory. What did I do wrong or need to fix?
Windows won't let you put a page file in an outside drive because that's not how it works right now.
Windows never let a page file live outside the main drive. I agree. It has always been on the C: drive. OP might be thinking about old DOS page files or "RAM drives," which used to work on other drives besides C:. But those things only existed with third-party software, not in plain MS-DOS.
Windows To Go isn't built how you think about it. It was designed for IT teams to get a bit of Windows running without installing anything so they can work on their systems. Basically, that's just not possible anymore. There is no fix for this mess. You've picked the wrong tool for the job.
