Hello,
here are some suggestions for a compact media player with the main features you mentioned. It should include play, pause, fullscreen, volume adjustment, jump to time, and subtitles support. There should be a few options that match your needs.
I’d recommend checking out Wondershare player, though it doesn’t directly open mp4 or avi files. It’s close to what you’re looking for. Would be great if you know of any similar alternatives.

You might want to use Media Player Classic. It's quite light.

i personally use media player classic. it's simple to operate, free, and can play any format right out of the box.

For clarity, this is the main location for Media Player Classic:
https://github.com/clsid2/mpc-hc/releases
since it relies on an earlier version that might appear when searching online.
If you prefer not to use that or find it challenging to configure, you might consider VLC:
The official download of VLC media player, the top open source option - VideoLAN
www.videolan.org

VLC. Doesn't do too much. Most likely have to add extensions for subtitle and jump-to-time. It has a bar that you can slide backward-forward, though. Plays pretty much all the formats I have too. 180MB in the x64 directory.

It seems like you're looking for alternatives, but the options are limited. MPlayer might be the closest fit, though nothing else immediately comes to mind.

i haven't come up with anything on my own with such straightforward choices. it's definitely an intriguing topic, though i don't remember ever encountering something like this before.

I recommend Daum Pot Player. It offers a highly customizable player with many features, and you can also use the compact mode to make it smaller.
