Once you get accustomed to them, the controls work well. You didn’t like using a keyboard though; a thumbstick gives better steering control. The 30 FPS is acceptable for this kind of game and it’s one of the smoother betas I’ve tested recently. The map is large enough to make driving enjoyable from side to side. Of course, it isn’t all the US, but it’s as close as you’ll get in any title I’ve tried. I spent about 24 hours plus playing it, and it took a while to get used to the driving mechanics. Once you do, it’s fine. The graphics are decent, though they’re capped at 30 FPS, which could have been improved. I appreciate that you’re always online, especially with such a big map. The main reason I love it is how the car breaks apart when you upgrade it—it’s impressive. I’m planning to buy this game on release and just want to drive around. Hope I helped!
Controls: Basic settings are terrible but very adjustable. I was quite happy after some adjustments. Performance: The Radeon HD 7870 (similar to GTX 760) maintained 60fps smoothly on medium to high settings. It definitely wouldn’t handle ultra speeds. Several odd issues popped up at 60fps, though I’d hope developers address them before launch (cough BF4). Map: Size is decent but not as large as advertised (likely minor tweaks in final version). Feels a bit less arcadey than it used to be (NFS not Criterion NFS, classic NFS). A minor complaint is the cop chases were underwhelming, which really affected the experience. I’d love to see a "next-gen" title where you spot 40 cops in your rear view and get hit by a giant donut. At least mods are available for PC.
