All processing units may be affected, though only a small percentage per unit, typically around a few percent. The overall CPU utilization is likely between 10 and 15 percent on an 18-core 9980XE.

Battlefield 4 and 5 adjusted to match your available count. Roughly similar to Minecraft but not exactly, just like GTA V. Still not quite perfect

If a new Ryzen 3 were released solely for gaming, whether 6 or 8 cores would be preferable depends on your specific needs.

When using the Valve Hammer Editor tools, up to 32 threads are possible... otherwise, limited options exist for larger projects. The Frostbite engine has been used effectively since Battlefield 4, while other engines may not scale well.

The main issue with CPUs and gaming often lies in titles designed for single or 2-4 cores, where clock speed matters more. This is why Intel has continued working with AMD after the Ryzen launch.

Ashes of the Singularity is the sole title I'm aware of that maintains performance as more cores are added, though only up to 12 for some reason.
I'm almost certain Civ6 also benefits from increased cores, allowing CPU turns to run faster.
Generally, developers opt for games that work with the least common denominator to boost market reach. Launching a game requiring 8 cores wouldn't significantly increase sales.
