I've been searching for a gaming laptop for several months now. The top suggestions include the Acer Predator Helios 300, Asus Zephyrus, Gigabyte Aero 15, and more. What bothers me is how all opinions seem to be so biased. Every brand has people claiming it's the worst or best. There are complaints about overheating and throttling, and some reviewers even mention temperatures reaching 90°C—clearly this makes me stop looking altogether.

What stands out is that the Asus Zephyrus S (see video link) features a smaller keyboard to accommodate more vents and has a beveled design for better airflow. However, it's quite pricey because of its slim build, and I prefer not to have a very thin laptop since that would likely worsen heating issues.

In short, I'm looking for a larger, more airflow-friendly machine. My current laptop has been around for about ten years, which is typical in my family, so I find these reviews about new overheating models really confusing.

Budget: 0 - 2000 CAD
Size: Any size is acceptable, but I don’t want something too thin for gaming and heat management.
Resolution: Any resolution works for me.
Portability: No need for a portable model.
Battery life: Not a concern.
Gaming: Yes, I want to play games from 2008 to 2015 mainly, but I also want flexibility for future needs.
Additional tasks: Light gaming, some video editing, downloading movies—nothing too heavy.
Storage: At least 256 GB would be ideal.
Shopping sites: I’m in Canada; the only places I know are Canadacomputers and amazon.ca. I’m open to other options if needed.
Longevity: I want it to last as long as possible, though some say replacing after a couple years is normal.
Preferred brands: No specific favorites, just what I’ve read so far.
Reasons for disliking certain brands: My previous experiences contradict my views, making me unsure.
Country: Canada

Sager continues producing some thick items. I think Xotic might do the same.
Links provided: sagernotebook.com and xoticpc.com. Uncertain about paying duty on any single item.

I'm evaluating the ASUS ROG lineup or the ACER Predator Helios 300. I've also considered purchasing a desktop computer along with a portable monitor, wireless keyboard, and other accessories.

For those who are still interested, Falcon Northwest isn't meant to be lightweight or thin. They rely on desktop CPUs and GPUs, which makes them suitable as desktop replacements. Their main (DRX) models, however, come at a high price. I plan to upgrade my Alienware Aurora with one in the future.
