hello! i'm just starting out with overclocking and i keep seeing people mention enabling xmp before adjusting the cpu speed. but my motherboard doesn't support that frequency, so i can't do it.

no xmp is meant for boosting ram speed when it can do so, like all ram starting at 2133mhz, but with a 2666 it only reaches that speed with xmp enabled. you can overclock your pc using xmp if your ram is 2133 or more, otherwise leaving xmp off will not improve its performance. best of luck with your cpu overclocking.
