It was my first time seeing it—I was struck by its look, reminiscent of Quake 3, yet I craved a more horror-focused experience. Then, last week I got a copy, and this is what happened next.

DOOM appears even more striking than any other I've encountered. However, we don't all have GPUs powerful enough to handle this title, as it relies on voxel rendering which consumes significant memory.

I'm totally getting the game, it looks great. The world is in dire need of a good Arena shooter. Although it will be great, I'm not expecting it to go anywhere.

It seems like the game is enjoyable to play, though nothing I've encountered yet suggests it will become a major hit. The video really brings the multiplayer experience closer to Halo, and even Halo has seen a drop in interest over recent releases. The most recent Halo titles have generated excitement for about a month, but after that the chatter fades away. I think Doom might follow a similar pattern—people will likely forget about it once the initial buzz passes.

He really enjoys those games, but he thinks a lot of people still think 2GB of RAM is normal. He’ll be disappointed if he can’t play Doom anymore.
