Hey
Long story short i have a pc with an very loud cpu in it and i've been looking into a good headset (preferably wireless) that has ANC but i keep seeing issues like static noise or the sound lagging behind the actual video and i have become very unsure of what i should get. I was looking at the Sony WH-1000XM4 at first but even the support desk of the site i was going to get it from talked about lag issues.
My current headphones are the wireless hyperX Cloud 2 and while the static is sometimes an issue it's never been that bad so i'm not sure if that Sony would have an issue there for me.
Either way i don't really know anything about headsets lets alone ANC headsets for gaming and music so i would love to see what other people here use or would recommend based on technical knowledge that i don't have right now.
Thanks in advance

I've been using these Bose 700 headphones for five years. They've been worn through and I've used them almost every day for at least eight hours since purchase. I don't remember a single time I didn't wear them. I've never had any issues with noise cancellation, battery life, or connection problems. I connect them to my PC regularly without any trouble. Compared to the WH-1000XM4, I prefer the Bose because they offer a more neutral sound. If you want more bass, the Sony might be better. If you're concerned about lag and discomfort, the newer WH-1000XM5 could have resolved those issues. You can also order another pair through services like Amazon and return it if needed. Hope this is helpful, stay safe.

I recall someone mentioning a newer Bose model as an alternative, though I didn’t remember the exact name. Something with a comfortable feel seems appealing. A neutral sound quality is a drawback for me since I enjoy strong bass tones, which the current headphones in their price range deliver well.

I’ve checked out the XM5, but there are several complaints about it that make me a bit concerned:
- The headphones tend to creak when you move
- Your ears might touch the fabric over the actual speaker if your ears aren’t small
- The new setup system feels loose and shifts easily
- Touch controls are too sensitive
- They claim better ANC than the 4, but it’s also significantly more expensive
- The XM6 is likely to offer a good balance of features, making it possibly the best choice right now

Given these points, I’m torn between the price and comfort aspects. The XM6 seems like it could be a compromise, being both cheaper and supposedly more comfortable, but I’m still hesitant about purchasing one. I’m worried about playing games with ray tracing while still hearing the fans clearly.

Thank you for the advice, but I’m still unsure.

I should have understood it on my own, but the warning about delay on the XM4 came from the fact that the headphones I use have a 2.4GHz receiver, while the XM4 only uses Bluetooth. This difference could cause the delay, so I’m thinking I’d need to look for a model with a similar receiver then? That seems like the main problem at least.

It’s worth considering swapping your existing HyperX Cloud 2 for a fresh CPU cooler if you’re content with your current setup. Upgrading could boost performance, lower noise levels, and save money compared to purchasing a new headset. Options like the Noctua NH-D15, Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4, or Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 are worth exploring.

If you’re looking for a new pair of headphones, Bose’s Quiet Comfort Ultra offers top-notch ANC and the latest Bluetooth 5.3, potentially reducing lag issues. However, many gaming-focused 2.4GHz headsets with advanced ANC remain limited. The Razer Opus X includes ANC but falls short in quality and lacks a 2.4GHz receiver. The Turtle Beach 700 supports ANC with a receiver, though its ANC is not highly refined and the build uses inexpensive materials.

Doing your research helps identify possible challenges, but most users who try these products face few issues. Negative feedback often stems from isolated cases. In reality, reviews indicate strong satisfaction—similar to the Sony 1000XM5 with over ten thousand ratings averaging 4.5 stars, and the XM4 and Bose headphones as well. This should give you confidence in your decision. Stay mindful, but don’t let minor concerns deter you.

I already have a "Be quiet silent loop2 360mm" here, so I'm not sure what kind of improvement there would be in terms of sound quality. It's just that I'm very sensitive to noise, more than most people.

I need to think about this because for me it's a comparison between the Arctis Nova Pro wireless, the ultra quiet comfort from Ultra Wireless, and the two Sony XM models. Razer has a reputation for not making durable products, so I don't trust them for audio stuff.

I'm curious which one is better for gaming since whether it's for gaming or music can influence which performs better.

My old PC used the Noctua NH-D15, but I didn't think an air cooler would be enough for the i9-14900K, so I chose water cooling instead.

One more question: are balance issues common among people, or is it something very rare? By balance issues, I mean some users say ANC headphones can affect their physical balance because they're in your ears.

The NH-D15 surpasses most water coolers. However, when it comes to headphone choices, the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless are excellent for gaming. The decision really hinges on whether you need versatile headphones or ones tailored for gaming. The Nova Pro enhances your gaming experience with additional gaming features, while Bose and Sony headphones offer stronger ANC performance and greater versatility across different scenarios.

If your sole purpose is gaming, the Nova Pro is ideal. It boasts very low Bluetooth latency and delivers solid sound quality with ANC. For those torn between Bose QuietComfort Ultra and Sony 1000XM5, the XM5 is the better pick. It emphasizes bass and supports Bluetooth 5.2, ensuring compatibility with PCs.

For the ultimate ANC experience, the Bose is the top choice. Balancing these options can be tricky, but most users find the pressure sensation from ANC headphones fades as your brain adapts to the absence of background noise. Be mindful when making your decision.

I think as long as the static or delay between video and audio is gone i don't need any special features. I think i have enough information to think about now until i finally make my decision. Most use would be for games and music so atm i am tending towards the XM5 based on your advice because while most of the headphones use would be for gaming i don't really care about fancy gamer extras more than good ANC, Low delay and good sound quality. I already have a proper studio mic anyway even if it's a slightly old trust emita mic.
I am also considering figuring out how to undo the overclock of my cpu because i don't think i truly need it and it might help with noise too. I think leaving it up to the turbo boost alone might be enough there.
I'm not sure about the claim that the DH-15 would be more silent than the silent loop 2 watercooler without costing performance but i'l look into that further too.
Thanks for the help so far.

I'm still trying to decide between the Sony Inzone H9 and the Nova Pro after much research. I've been checking forums, reading reviews, and watching opinions. I wanted to know if you have any thoughts or an opinion on this comparison. The Audeze Maxwell is also mentioned, but I haven't looked into it much yet.

I was considering buying the XM5, but many people say it doesn't handle sweat well. Since I live in a slanted roof apartment with a big sun-facing window during summer, my headphones need to withstand a lot of sweating from me.

I've also read several comments suggesting these headphones aren't great for gaming and that you'd be better off using a separate set for gaming and travel. My current travel setup is a wired version of the Cloud 2 I've used for a long time, and I don't feel the need to switch now.

I've edited my thoughts a bit; the Nova Pro seems to be the overall better option, though it has a high noise floor that's a bit concerning.
