Do you have a problem with Thunderbird and want to use another email app instead?
I am getting old and have problems with my brain, so it is hard for me to fix things myself. I've used Thunderbird for a long time on Windows 10 if that helps, but setting up and keeping it running was tough. I kept using it anyway even though it wasn't working well. I have many email addresses, and the one I use most often (my gmail address) is no longer working properly. In December, it stopped sending me messages; something must be wrong with my password or how I'm entering them. I can't get anything to work for that specific account. I know I am using the right password because I used that same code to log into other computers before. I tried restarting Thunderbird in troubleshooting mode, but nothing changed there either. I thought updating it might help me fix this issue with my email address. So I did update it, and even after that, I still cannot download emails for that specific account (I can still download messages from many other addresses). I do notice an indicator on the screen saying there are messages waiting, but when I try to pull them down, a counter shows hundreds of messages going to download, yet none show up. Even worse, I cannot send any messages through this same address either. Is there anything else I should try? What if I just make a brand new password instead? That would be a pain because I'd have to change the password everywhere else (like my phone and laptop), but I'm pretty sure I can do it anyway. Or maybe I should give up on Thunderbird altogether? Are there other email apps that are easier for beginners like me? I didn't ask for help from the support team for Thunderbird because I noticed most of their requests never get any reply back. If they offered to let me buy a better client software or even some real customer service, I'd take it right now since I can still see my current messages in my Google account. But I need the ability to save important letters and keep them safe for years without them disappearing like they do with Google Mail. Thank you for any helpful advice.
Do you have Google's "2-Step Verification" turned on? It adds extra safety to protect your account. When a different device or app tries to log in, they get a code sent from your phone or another email address. Let me know if you've switched this feature on.
