Hi Guys!
I wanted to share some thoughts on this "not-so-serious" issue I’m facing.
I currently own a Zephyrus M16 (2021 / 1600p-165Hz / i9-11900H / 3060 / 8+8 GB RAM), purchased in April 2022 for around USD250 below the retail price. It performs well enough for CAD work, Excel calculations, and basic productivity tasks, plus some light gaming (Apex, RA2, MS Games). The display is excellent and the sound quality is great.
Then an ad caught my eye – they’re offering a 2021 Strix Scar 17 (2021 / 1440p-165Hz / R9 5900HX / 3060 / 16GB RAM), which they’ve had for about 11 months. They’ll be buying a desktop, and it comes with the backpack, a 240W charger, a 100W Type-C charger, an external camera, and ROG plates (though I’m not sure what extra benefits it provides). The price we’re considering is around USD1400 (retail is likely between 1900-2000). I’ll be checking the battery life, speakers, cosmetic options, and screen quality this week. If it meets expectations, I’d be happy.
Not too worried about drive health since I already have spare SSDs and compatible memory modules.
As for why I’m interested in the Scar 17? – A little jealous of my sister’s HP Laptop 17 17" screen, which she got after borrowing it during a three-day visit.

I would keep that transaction intact. Focus on its current functionality and plan to upgrade to a more advanced laptop in a few years.

What first struck me and remains unchanged is this idea. Perhaps I should attend the planned meeting and see for myself, as someone who made the appointment. Very helpful advice.

Considering how things are really developing, keeping your money secure would be the wisest choice. Of course, since you confirmed your intentions, it's important to show up and have a discussion. In fact, we all need more people like that. For some of my items I sold in my country, I haven't had any sales either, which made me reflect.

Absolutely, everything here is completely accurate. We can't be sure what will happen next, but it might open up new possibilities or connections (it's not a bad thing).
If someone had your experience, they would probably ask many questions and then stay quiet once they have the details, never wanting to talk again.
A more thoughtful reply would be great. Thank you very much.

As an update, there was something unusual... they moved the meeting because they had more urgent tasks. Almost four weeks passed, and then they messaged me saying we could still go if we managed. I agreed and attended.

They were nice people, a couple, a bit younger than me, and seemed to be starting a small business. They showed me their desktop (they’d already bought it), plus some extra laptops—though I didn’t ask questions about the details.

I checked and everything looked fine: no scratches, no dead pixels, audio still great, SSD was at 98% health, and battery wear was at 12% (expected around 4-5, but it’s been a year).

Before I could comment, they reduced the price even more. When I asked why, they said I was the only one interested and didn’t lower the price early on. I was surprised because the device is solid (the 2022 model seems to have improved performance). I kept suggesting they might get a better deal, but both agreed and I accepted—USD900.

They offered to cook lunch around 1pm, but I politely declined.

It’s been five days now, just testing the unit and trying to understand the keystone issue... I managed to lower the battery wear to 8%.

Just wanted to share.
