My laptop, a 3-year-old Dell Inspiron 5505, keeps getting too hot lately. Looking at the temps from NZXT, they stay around 80 to 90 degrees Celsius. I took the lid off, cleaned out any dust or blocks in the fans and other coolers parts. This machine uses an AMD Ryzen 5 4000 series chip with Radeon graphics. Here is a picture showing me moving files from my hard drive to an external one while no web browser is open. I've tried updating all the drivers on the Dell tool and checking Windows for updates, but nothing has fixed it yet. Can you give me some more ideas? Should I take off the heat sink and put some thermal paste on it?

Nasty thermal paste is totally fine to put on things if you're okay with doing so. - Does it get hot around 80-90 degrees when the thing is working hard, or just stay cool when nothing else is running? - Plug into the BIOS setup menu, or even Safe Mode, and check what happens while the thing heats up.

It was stuck hot even without using it. I changed the thermal paste and things look better now. Idle temps are around 35 to 50 degrees. But when recording a zoom shot, it went up to 85 to 90 degrees. 🤞

My ears are working fine, so everything sounds okay inside my head.
