I'm not sure exactly when this started in Windows, but it affects how audio files (mp3, wav, etc.) and video files load. Any folder with these types of files becomes extremely slow. The Task Manager doesn't show unusual processing activity. When the folder loads, I can't close it or navigate back to it easily. I can scroll through it normally, but opening the same folder again causes it to reload. Anyone with expertise, could you help?

You may have installed some software with a "filter" feature that alters how the operating system handles file types, causing it to process every multimedia file regardless of its usual restrictions.
There might be an error in the Windows thumbnail/index system or permission problems that block the update or proper reading of the thumbnail database.
A faulty hard drive could also be responsible—check its S.M.A.R.T. data using suitable tools.

Once the folder is loaded, the top attribute column headers are displayed. Columns such as Length or Album can cause performance issues because each file is checked for these attributes. Consider removing any unnecessary attribute columns.

I'm not familiar with the software. It works quite similarly to what I used before. The indexing feature was turned off because I considered it unnecessary for a CPU-heavy task. I attempted to index my entire system, but nothing changed. The drive appears fine. I'm unsure what to do next. Any suggestions?

How do you confirm this with certainty?
What does the S.M.A.R.T. data indicate (post screenshot or text from a proper tool like chrystaldiskinfo)? If using text output, please enclose it in code tags for clear formatting.

Sometimes actions seem to fix the issue temporarily, but it returns after some time. Yesterday I cleared the thumbnail cache and it worked then, but now it's still happening. Switch the folder display to a list.
Issues arise when there is a damaged video file.
Creating thumbnails or previews leads to the process freezing or stopping.
