My PC has been experiencing several issues recently. It began with occasional crashes, but now it’s nearly unresponsive. Occasionally it restarts unexpectedly. I’m seeking some guidance.

Here are the details:
CPU: Intel® Core™ Processor i9-14900KF 8P/16 + 16E 3.20GHz [Turbo 6.0GHz] 36MB Cache LGA1700 (without integrated graphics)
Motherboard: MSI PRO Z790-P WIFI DDR5 ATX w/ Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5GbT LAN, (3)PCIe x16, (1)PCIe x1, (4)M.2, (6)SATA
Power Supply: 1200 Watts - Corsair RM1200x SHIFT 80 PLUS Gold ATX 3.0 Fully Modular w/ PCIe 12+4Pins connector for PCIe 5.0 graphics cards
Hard Drive: 4TB Kingston SNV2S/4000G SSD (PCIe Gen4) NVMe M.2 SSD - Seq R/W: Up to 3,500/2,800 MB/s (Dual Drive (4TB x 2, 8TB capacity))
Second HDD: 8TB Seagate IronWolf Pro SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 256MB Cache 7200RPM HDD (8TB x 2, 16TB capacity) RAID 0 Super Performance
Fan: CyberpowerPC MasterLiquid Lite 360mm ARGB CPU Liquid Cooler with Dual Chamber Pump & Copper Cold Plate (3 x Standard 120MM Fans)
Memory: 64GB (32GBx2) DDR5/6000MHz Dual Channel Memory (Performance Memory by Major Brands)
Video Card: ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX™ 4090 OC Edition 24GB GDDR6X Gaming Video Card (DLSS 3.0) [AI-Powered Graphics]
I don’t have access to system logs at the moment, but I can share the BSODs I’ve encountered.
Kernel Security Check Failure
Paged Fault in Nonpaged Area
Kmode Exception Not Handled
Hypervisor Error
System Service errors for cl.dll, fltmgr.sys and ntfs.sys
Critical Process Died

I ran Memtest86 on a bootable USB drive—no memory issues detected. Crystal Disk shows all drives as healthy. CPU temperature would reach 99°C but not exceed it while running.
I’m hoping this helps, since I bought this setup during a midlife crisis instead of a sports car.
😉

I can’t afford another system with such a powerful graphics card; I really need to identify the problem so I can hopefully resolve it. It seems hardware-related, as it would crash even when idle and during games.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

You know . . . that's a lot of storage running on this system so I'm glad you chose a 1200 Watt PSU as power always comes into mind when it comes to these rigs which is why I have a 1300 Watt running my dual GPUs. With that said 99* C is a high temp so I'd suggest checking that out as I don't go any higher than 80 on mah 12900K & I'm also liquid cooled. Why so much storage too??

Yeah, between the card and the drives, I made sure I had enough power. For storage, I deal with many games and mods, so I thought I'd get a system that would last me a long time. It did last, as long as it didn't fail.

Hi, just a thought—maybe start by resetting the CMOS first, then try launching the PC with default settings to check if problems persist and BSODs occur. Once you identify the root cause, you can adjust the system for better performance later. If the default settings work well, download and keep HWINFO running in the background to monitor temperatures and stats while testing games and apps. Your system seems high-end, so there’s likely a specific issue affecting it. If it still isn’t working as expected, there are experienced users here who understand High-End Intel Gaming PCs and can help interpret the BSODs. They’re ready to assist you in resolving the issues.

I’ve worked on many AMD Home and Gaming PCs, as well as Intel-based server systems over the years. Wishing you success so you can enjoy your PC again.
