nope, you dont need to, but if you see low fps then you should, but thats a very nice cpu and you shouldnt see low fps on it, but overclocking it would up the fps for sure!

The CPU isn't related to the resolution. If you experience low FPS in certain game areas, you should overclock. For games, close at least two cores from the BIOS and aim for the highest possible GHz.

This configuration allows smooth 1440p gaming. Your GPU usage should stay under 50%, with about 95% of your game time spent in that range.
