Do you rely on mouse gesture programs like StrokeIt, or do these gestures complicate computer use? In older versions, such as Windows 98, certain sound effects for actions like closing or resizing windows could interfere with performance. In newer systems, these sounds are usually disabled by default. It might be possible that a mistaken mouse movement triggers the program to interpret it as a gesture.

Unless there is a particular necessity or demand for "gestures" (or any similar improvements), it's best not to worry.
Who can predict the immediate effects, let alone the potential future ones?
If a specific need exists, attempt to test the program so that if things go wrong you can quickly restore both data and possibly the whole system.
What functions now might fail later...
Make sure all data and the system are backed up and can be recovered.
This should already be standard practice.
That's my perspective on the situation.
