Do I have a ram bottleneck?
Do I have a ram bottleneck?
I own an i7-12700kf and a 4070ti. My Fortnite 1080p performance is about 240 fps, though it fluctuates. In tough moments my FPS drops to roughly 215. On YouTube I see similar setups achieving steady 240 fps even under stress. The only variation I notice is that the benchmarks use faster RAM than mine. My system has DDR4 32GB at 3600MHz.
I'm not sure if the settings match across games. It's possible they've made changes to the system that affect performance. You should confirm whether the card is present in the game and check the official documentation for any adjustments.
These ratings exceed the 240 mark yet their screens hit their limits at 240. It seems no game can keep 240 frames per second consistently across both high and low settings. Without a built-in limiter such as a monitor or VSync, 240 FPS at max and 215 at lows is realistic. A 10% drop is expected. Come one, man.
It’s not a huge issue, but upgrading to 1440p will reduce the frames even more. Fortnite is a competitive game, and higher FPS is better. I also wanted a PC that could handle 1440p at 240fps and 1080p consistently at 240fps. I believed an i7-12700k would work well since I’ve seen many benchmarks. It makes sense to get what you paid for.
The benchmark you shared seems helpful. What are your thoughts on it?
You know he hits 178 fps in the skydive. He's anywhere from 320 to 270, up and down. As it should be. There is obviously a setting you're missing. Not sure I would put my PC's worth on a guy with 186 subs. I would want someone a bit more versed in benchmarks, as he may have tweaked something previously and forgot to reset, etc.
