Do I have 100% of my power going to graphics, but the screen isn't moving fast?
Do I have 100% of my power going to graphics, but the screen isn't moving fast?
Hi everyone, hope you're all good! My MSI Leopard GP66 gaming laptop is acting weird right now. Suddenly, when I run a game, my FPS drops low and the GPU shows up at 97-100%. I tried fixing it with different methods: restarting Windows, updating from a USB drive, updating the BIOS, uninstalling the GPU driver, rolling back the update, cleaning up fans and internal dust, and applying cooler master thermal paste. I even changed everything and still don't know what's wrong or how to fix it. My temps are actually not too high, staying around 30-80C max. Still no idea what the problem is or how to solve it. If anyone can help me out and fix this, I'd appreciate that a lot!
Laptop specs: RTX 3080 with 8GB RAM, Intel Core i7-11800H, and 32GB of memory.
Best regards, Mustafa
You need to make sure the game uses an RTX 3080 card, not just your integrated graphics processor.
Hey there, since you got the laptop, have you cleaned it ever? Like any gaming laptop, getting hot is a big pain for owners. You should start by giving the inside of the laptop a good cleaning with compressed air. Take all the dirt and grime out of it. The stuff over time will block up the fans and stop them from working well. Install HWInfo to watch your system, and run some tests. CInebench R23 is good for this. Use HWInfo to see what temperatures your CPU hits right now. Try changing power plans, and check if that helps. If you changed any of those plans, then it might be a good idea to put them back to default. You can do this by typing these codes into powershell: Ultimate Performance: powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61 High Performance: powercfg -duplicatescheme 8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c Balanced: powercfg -duplicatescheme 381b4222-f694-41f0-9685-ff5bb260df2e Power saver: powercfg -duplicatescheme a1841308-3541-4fab-bc81-f71556f20b4a See if these help.
I cleaned inside and checked the fans. I took out all the dust like you can see here. I already told you this in my last question so far. Now the problem is confusing me. I don't know how to fix it. Maybe the power supply (charger) has a problem? Will it hurt the system? I'm confused because something started happening suddenly. The only thing I didn't check was the charger if it's not sending enough electricity. So still no idea how to fix it
I messed up my bad and didn't notice that. When you changed the paste, how did you put it on? The best thing for Intel chips is a small dot right in the middle. Then replace the cooling pipes back in a criss-cross pattern like this. So check each diagonal to make sure everything else too. Is the BIOS up to date?
