It's uncertain if 4000 Mhz RAM would cause a slowdown with Zen 3, as performance depends on various factors beyond just memory speed.

Currently supports Zen 2, but the exact performance of Infinity Fabric on Zen 3 remains uncertain

The same as before, if the Infinity Fabric on Zen 3 works with 4000Mhz RAM it shouldn’t hurt performance, provided the memory timings match the speed. However, it probably won’t boost performance noticeably.

The question checks if you truly require 32GB of RAM. Are you just gaming, or is there another task needing more memory (such as editing 4K videos)?

Maintaining an active web browser with numerous background tabs during gaming demands more than 16 GB of RAM. Increasing to 32 GB offers a better upgrade path, and the system should accommodate current needs while supporting future demands for several years ahead.

I plan to play games, but I don't think 16GB is sufficient anymore. Especially with the industry's direction now. In fact, 32GB isn't seen as excessive and is becoming the new standard I guess. As Delicieuxz mentioned.

Back in the DDR3 era (2014) I had to pay...? I don’t recall the amount, but this is the exact receipt. It seems it was around $159? Probably because it was 2016, not 1333 or 1600. DDR3 was usually cheaper than DDR4 when it first came out, but prices dropped to match within a year. After more than five years, if you remember how costly DDR4 was in 2018, that was the typical starting price for a standard DDR4 setup according to some industry sources. https://www.gamersnexus.net/industry/321...ial-launch

The amount you paid seems reasonable. According to Gamers Nexus, 8 GB of DDR3-1600 cost about $80 in October 2014, whereas 8 GB of DDR4-2133 was around $135. Currently, on Amazon, DDR4-3200 is roughly $55 to $60 for 16 GB. Just a guess, DDR5 could hit around $80 per 16 GB when it launches.
